Second Thursday movie night August 9: 'The Man Who Invented Christmas'
08/06/2018_22:15
Our second Thursday movie this month is the 2017 biographical drama 'The Man Who Invented Christmas.' The plot follows Charles Dickens at the time when he wrote A Christmas Carol, and tells how Dickens's fictional character Ebenezer Scrooge was influenced by Dickens' real-life father, John Dickens.

UU World says
'Charles Dickens’s famous novel about Ebenezer Scrooge changed the celebration of Christmas into what we think of as traditional today: an occasion to give to those less fortunate and to gather family and friends around laden dinner tables and Christmas trees filled with lights, decorations, and toys. Written shortly after Dickens joined a Unitarian church, A Christmas Carol became his most famous novel—and the one most representative of his Unitarian beliefs.'

Meet for snacks and fellowship on Thursday August 9 at 7:00; movie starts at 7:30. We gather at the home of Ann and Mike, 110 Seville Blvd, Lafayette, LA 70503. If you have questions call Mike at 337-852-3668,

Sierra Club for movie night
07/17/2018_13:04
This Thursday, July 19, all are welcome to join our local chapter of the Sierra Club for movie night to learn about the electric evolution. We will be viewing the 2017 documentary 'EVOLVE: Driving a Clean Future in Coal Country.' We will not only learn about how our transportation system is electrifying, but also how Kentucky coal country citizens are energizing the evolution. Can our own oil and gas country follow Kentucky's lead?

'Can Kentucky drive America’s clean transportation future? The answer may surprise you. EVolve KY (a grassroots non profit group of Kentucky’s electric vehicle owners) is leading the state’s clean transportation revolution by installing fee free community chargers, educating the public in innovative ways, and demonstrating that EVs are fun, economical, and planet-friendly. Meanwhile, from coal museum roofs to former mountaintop removal mining sites, renewables and world changing battery technology are starting to take off… in coal country! With humor and heart, EVOLVE weaves together inspiring stories of transformative work by passionate people in unlikely places.'

Welcome to the new UUlala Message Center
07/15/2018_19:48
For years we had used Yahoo Groups as an alternative means of communicating among the Fellowship. But, of late it has become unreliable. So we are going to replace it with this home-grown message page.

Anyone on the UUlala mailing list can leave a message. And, the message can be shared with those on the mailing list by checking the Mail All box.

Your existing posts can be editted, should you find a typo, or change your mind about and issue, by pressing the button at top right.

If someone who is not on the mailing list wants to be on it, they can request to be added by scrolling to the bottom of the names in the name selection window and selecting '*** Add My Name***.'

If someone does not wish to continue to be on the mailing list, there is an unsubscribe link at the bottom of the emails.

The UULaLA Message center can be accessed on the UULaLa.org site on the Contact Us drop-down menu.

Please let me know if you have questions, comments or complaints. ;-)
