About FoodNet Food Bank of Lafayette, LA

Vision Statement:

Providing food, reducing hunger, supporting the Lafayette Parish community

Mission Statement:

To reduce hunger in Lafayette Parish. We provide food to those in need, generate community support and create awareness. We do this through a viable process for the collection and distribution of food in an accountable and compassionate manner.

FoodNet Food Bank of Lafayette, LA, is a local community food bank that has been serving food insecure individuals in Lafayette Parish continuously since 1986. We have collected over 15 million pounds of food from community donations in its 29 year history through large scale and smaller food drives and its Supermarket Basket program in local markets. Monetary donations and grants to purchase food have greatly contributed to our ability to continue serving the needy in the community. The donated food is sorted and packed into bags by volunteers at the FoodNet warehouse and then distributed to qualified clients through FoodNet’s Distribution Center and at FoodNet affiliated food pantries. Referrals for food assistance come from 232-HELP. Currently, over 3,000 individuals (including children) per month benefit from food assistance through FoodNet.

FoodNet is a United Way of Acadiana agency. The following is a list of our many business supporters: Adrien’s Supermarket, Albertson’s, All American Transfer and Storage, Breaux’s Mart, Cajun Country Rice, Cox Communications, Hub City Ford, Kevin Guidry Produce Market, KLFY News 10, Lafayette Auto Dealers Assoc., National Association of Letter Carriers, Rotary Club of Lafayette, Super 1 Foods, Tony Chachere’s Creole Foods, Whole Foods Market and many more.
