LWV-Lafayette requested an LCG resolution to provide free bus rides for Election Day as a way to remove barriers to participating in democracy. However, the resolution was removed from the agenda of the October 16, 2018 LCG council meeting.

Representing LWV- Lafayette, Spokesperson Alicia Chaisson opposed the resolution asking the council to denounce Drag Queen Story Time. Any efforts to discriminate against university students and Lafayette's LGBTQ+ citizens is wrong and we took issue with the offensive and inflammatory nature of the public discourse.

LWV-Lafayette hosted its 8th Just Desserts Afternoon Awards Affair on November 19, 2017. The event gave "just desserts" to individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions to our community. Recognitions were presented for Safeguarding Democracy, Mobilizing People to Take Action, Improving the Quality of Education, and Increasing Community Dialogue. A special Lifetime of Excellence Award was also presented. Good food and good company were enjoyed by all.

Inadequacies in meeting public accessibility and safety needs for early voting were noted at the Registrar of Voters' office in the Lafayette Courthouse Annex at 1010 Lafayette Street during the fall 2016 presidential/Congressional election. LWV-Lafayette presented information and asked the City-Parish Council to select and begin budgeting the costs of accessible location(s) for the 2018 gubernatorial primary election and thereafter.
A panel discussion, The Forecast for Healthcare in Acadiana, was hosted by LWV-Lafayette on Monday, May 22, 2017 at the main branch of th Lafayette Public Library, 301 W. Congress.

LWV-Lafayette was host to the LWV-Louisiana state convention March 11-12, 2017.
Presenters for the workshop, Follow the Money, were Patrick Goldsmith, Director, House Fiscal Division, and Jan Moller, Director, Louisiana Budget Project. The workshop was free and open to the public.
The evening banquet, also open to the public, featured keynote address, "Setting the Stage for Long-term Fiscal Reform", by Shawn Wilson, Secretary of the LA Department of Transportation.
LWV-Lafayette hosted its 7th Just Desserts Afternoon Awards Affair on November 15, 2015. The event gives "just desserts" to deserving citizens who have made significant contributions to our community. Recognitions were presented for Safeguarding Democracy, Mobilizing People to Take Action, Improving the Quality of Education, and Increasing Community Dialogue. A special Lifetime of Excellence Award was also presented to a distinguished, well-deserving community leader. Good food and good company were enjoyed by all.
