HiSET Program
VITA also helps adult learners work toward their high school equivalency diploma. In Louisiana, the GED test has been replaced with the HiSET, which stands for High School Equivalency Test. The test has five parts: reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, and science.

VITA offers classes in all of the test subject areas. We should mention that our program is paced more slowly than other HiSET programs in the community. At VITA, we spend more time with the material and aim to give our students more individual attention.

In addition to classes, we offer digital distance learning and computer software to work on core reading comprehension skills. Students work at their own pace; when you feel ready to take the HiSET, we will give you a practice exam to see if you are ready.

Regular attendance is very important when it comes to making progress, especially for students who want to take the HiSET. In general, you'll get out of the program what you put in to it -- the more you can attend, the faster you can improve!
