About FoodNet Food Bank
FoodNet Food Bank is a 501(c)3 nonprofit serving Lafayette Parish. FoodNet has distributed hundreds of thousands of pounds of food since 1987 to those in need in Lafayette Parish. Since its inception, FoodNet has been a member agency of United Way of Acadiana. FoodNet serves over 33,000 individuals annually in Lafayette Parish through 3 food distribution pantries. FoodNet distributes approximately 300,000 lbs of food each year through community donations, food drives and local grants to purchase food.
FoodNet co-host 3 major food drives each year: the National Association of Letter Carriers food drive in May, the Rotary Club Election Day food drive and the KLFY News 10 / FoodNet "Food for Families" food drive in December.
Numerous schools, corporations, organizations and individuals hold independent food drives benefiting FoodNet throughout the year. Monetary donations and organization and foundation grants also provide fiscal stability for our continually growing nonprofit organization.
A community market basket program at local supermarkets enables FoodNet Food Bank to collect food year round. FoodNet also has a garden where it grows and distributes fresh produce to the food bank receipients.
