If you work on a rig as a drilling engineer, you will know there are two ways to reach the rig: boat and helicopter. I like to go to work by helicopter. First, the helicopter is faster than the boat. It only takes hours from the airport to a rig by helicopter, while it takes days by boat. Second, a helicopter is much safer. There are several strict safety checks, including equipment and staff, before it flies. And nowadays, the bad weather is no longer a problem for the helicopter. The performance of a helicopter can handle all harsh weather except lightning. Third, the air company offers a beautiful and graceful female guide to introduce safety knowledge and escape instructions. She answers your questions about safe flying with a sweet smile. During flying, you have a good view through the window. You can see moving cars on the road like crawling ants. Or you may be surprised to find you are flying over your own house. That’s an interesting feeling. You may ask how much I should pay for a beautiful traveling exerience like this. The answer is free since the drilling company has already paid ticket for all the personel. Combining the reasons above, I strongly recommend you to have this experience. I live in a place where the winter is severe. There is a lot of accumulation of ice, in this circumstance, so going to work can be a nightmare. I say a nightmare because every morning I need to clean the icy path, scrape the ice on top of the car and start the motor. All of these procedures require to much time being out in that freezing weather. Whenever the climate is gelid, the roads are slippery. I prefer to go to work on public transportation because there are a lot of accidents, many of them fatal. For these reasons, I believe is safer to go by bus, where ever you go. There are other advantages too. The ticket is cheaper than gasoline for the car. I can use this travel time for reading the paper, studying English, or also enjoying the view. From my experience, I invite many people to travel by bus, subway or train. It is safer and less expensive. If you try, you can see by yourself.

My preferred method to get to my job is my car. Driving is the fastest way to get to work.  While, Lafayette has a bus system, they do not run very frequently; I can jump in my car at any time.  My car has a great sound system that allows me the listen to radio programs, music from several different sources or recorded podcasts. My car is very comfortable -- It has AC in the summer, heater in the winter, and   heated seats! When I get to work, there is parking just across the street so I don't have to walk very far. For me, driving to work is fast, comfortable and easy.
