Yara, her husband and son came to America from Egypt in 2003 so that her husband could enroll in a ULL PHD program. She graduated in civil engineering in Egypt.She attends ESL (English as a Second Language) conversation classes  and  the VITA computer lab.She is an enthusiastic learner and has made great improvement.

VITA made a huge difference in my life, Yara writes. " I just arrived in this country I was lonely, I was really homesick. I'm from Egypt, and there English is our second language, that made me know English, but when I arrived here I knew that there is a huge difference between knowing English and speaking English every day. At the beginning I refused to talk to people, I can understand them very well but I didn't have enough confidence to speak with them. But you know what? I'm totally a different person now. I'm talking everywhere and every time thanks to VITA. I'm now connecting very well with this society. Now I have friends, classes to attend, lab which made a huge improvement in my language. It's a totally different life"
